With today’s 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Nationals brought fans another exciting ending. Out of 15 wins so far this year, seven have been by one run.

It’s fun, but it may kill me.

Bryce Harper put on a hitting show, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. And Ian Desmond triggered the victory horn when he hit a 2-run, walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Great stuff, but I also liked the rundown in the top of the ninth, which erased a D-backs baserunner and yielded my photo of the day.

When LaRoche is in the field and a teammate throws the ball anywhere near first, I know Adam will make the play.

When he’s at the plate, I assume there’s a decent chance he’ll get a hit. Already this season, he’s had 6 multi-hit games, including a 4 for 5 effort at Chicago on April 7.

Tonight at San Diego, LaRoche helped ensure a Nationals win by going 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, and a RBI. He scored 2 of the Nationals’ runs in a 7-2 victory over the Padres.

A five-run win isn’t stressful, of course, but both the laughers and the close ones are easier when LaRoche is in the game. Thank you, Adam.

It’s hard to choose my favorite part of Rick Ankiel’s performance last night. There’s the part where Ankiel was 3 for 3, including a home run and a double. He scored both runs in the Nationals’ 2-0 win over the Miami Marlins.

Or the part where Ankiel sped across the outfield to catch Chris Couglin’s fly ball, just before running into the bullpen fence.

Or the part where The Arm shot a rocket from center field to home plate, causing Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins to stand on 3rd and watch, instead of attempting to score. No episode of the Rick Ankiel show would be complete without showing off The Arm.

What a night for Rick!
